The Virginian-Pilot newspaper set a standard for visual excellence lasting more than three decades. The transformation started with the arrival of Executive Editor, Frank Caperton, in 1977 and accelerated when Bob Lynn was hired in the spring of 1980 as the Director of Photography. Bob, backed by Frank, created a culture of creativity, setting high standards for not only the photographers, but other editorial team members. This video looked at the development of this culture and how it continued to present day. It was made in cooperation with Ohio University in fulfillment of a Master degree requirement for Visual Communications, News Room Management.
