Los Alamos – birthplace of the atomic bomb.
At sunrise a flock of birds appears. Closer inspection reveals they are made of porcelain with blue pictures on their backs: photos and stories about war, images of children and love letters. People are drawn in to read, think and talk.
What is war? What is peace? What is public art and - can it achieve anything? Questions US artist Christy Hengst explores at each of worldwide over 60 birds landings. We learn that her family history is connected to the project, as her grandfather was part of the scientists group working on the V-2 rocket in Penemünde, Germany.
At sunset the flock disappears only to resurface somewhere else: in Peenemünde, at the US Capitol or the park down the street.
