Anish Kapoor's gigantic sculptures are to be found in public spaces in cities around the world. Inspiring some of his recent work was his reading of Chris Knight’s 1991 book, ‘Blood Relations: menstruation and the origins of culture’. Several his best-known sculptures and paintings suggest the bleeding, suffering and repressed potency of the human female body. Building on some of our conversations, this talk will explore the anthropological roots and revolutionary implications of Kapoor’s work.
