How to use a 6'x6' Butterfly Survival Kit by Matthews rented from Aperturent.com in Atlanta, GA, USA.
Q: Will this thing really make that much of a difference in my video?
A: Well it all depends on how you use it… but yes it will. The difference between amateur work and professional work is in the subtle details.
Q: Can I use the 6'x6' frame and scrim if I'm shooting in-doors?
A: Yes of course! But instead of modifying the sunlight, you'll be modifying the light from your Kinos, LEDs, or what ever light you may be using.
Q: Can I not just use a photographer's diffusor?
A: Yes you can but the 6'x6' scrim/silk allows you to cover a larger area (up to two people depending on how close they from each other).
Q: Can I not rig a white bed sheet onto some broom poles or something?
A: Sure you can but having professional looking gear can sometimes mean the difference between impressing the client or not. If the client is impressed you have a much better chance of being hired again or getting a larger budget next time around.
