This is a sizzle reel highlighting the first episode of Around the World in 80 Dances, a series in which Host Lucinda explores a destination, a culture, local food, fashion, and friends, and learns the dance that originates there. Nothing brings people of all backgrounds together like social dancing, an activity that is healthy, fun, non-controversial, and a great way to meet new people. Every dance has a story, a background and a culture, and Lucinda is beginning her adventure to learn about them!
West Coast Swing is a fun, modern swing dance that has roots on the east coast, in the original Lindy Hop swing of the 1920's and 30's big band era, and it migrated west and developed in California, with current music. In the 1980's the state legislature adopted the dance to be California's official state dance, and it continues to thrive right in the capitol, as well as everywhere...and its popularity continues to grow throughout the world!
