Short video of Edinburgh in winter produced by Walid Salhab, Lecturer in Media Practice, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.
Following the international interest generated by Kinetic Edinburgh I, Walid decided to further trial his time lapse/stop motion techniques in another short film which celebrates the beauty of Edinburgh during the festive season.
Kinetic Edinburgh II showcases many interesting areas of Edinburgh and allows the viewer to see these locations through fresh eyes. The film moves from the magnificence of the Dome encased in its illuminated decorations to the coolness of Portobello promenade, and from dusk at Granton Harbour to the lights of the big wheel and the carousel at Winter Wonderland.
Kinetic Edinburgh is made up of a minimum of 10,000 individual photos all pieced together to create the illusion of movement.
Walid has used Kinetic Edinburgh II as part of his own-going research in practical media. The knowledge and skills he has acquired as part of this process are being fed into his teaching. The film is also helping him develop techniques that will be used in his up and coming short film ‘Avaritia’. The trailer for ‘Avaritia’ will be released very soon.
Kinetic Edinburgh is Walid’s Christmas present to the residents of Edinburgh and to all the people around the world who love the city.
