For the 5th Consecutive year, I had the pleasure of delivering opening comments on Day 3 at the Ri$kMinds Conference in Amsterdam on December 6th 2012. My presentation has traditionally consists of a roundup of key issues QRM's clients are facing from around the globe and then my review of the Ri$kMinds Conference topics and recounting of my favorite Quotes from the speakers. This year, I decided to inject a little relevant spectacle to the proceedings so I picked up on Andrew Haldane’s paper "The dog and the Frisbee" delivered back in August that spoke to complexity in the regulatory and supervisory process. I put his comments to the test and choreographed a series of Frisbee Moves to a listing of the qualities of a good risk manager. Showing that although risk management can be extremely complex (like Frisbee tricks), you don’t need to overcomplicate the process despite these complexities.
