This new lab enables us to measure all the properties that define heat transfer and burning for a material in computational and analytical fire models at a range of temperatures. Funded by a grant from The United States Department of Justice, this research aims to improve fire investigation and fire modeling capabilities by enhancing the quality, quantity, and accessibility of available data on thermo-physical properties of contemporary materials. FSRI is currently developing an online material properties database that will soon be made publicly available.
