Documentary of the making and dissolution of a sand mandala for Yamantaka, a Tibetan Buddhist highest yoga tantra ritual held annually at Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India. Over the course of ten days, monks created an elaborate mandala and ritual cakes, chanted, prayed, and meditated. On the last day, the mandala was swept into a vase and the sand released into a river as a blessing for all.
Made possible by the support of Asian Cultural Council. In appreciation and gratitude to His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, and Namgyal Monastery for the opportunity to witness and document this event.
