As she waits for the results of a biopsy she fears the worst. Marie Antionette Axime was facing death from cervical cancer before a donor helped her get to the Dominican Republic for treatment. Now in remission, she wishes similar treatment was available in Haiti for poor women.
Cervical Cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Haiti, yet it is easily preventable with early detection. This film tells the story of two women and their experience with the illness. Family Health Ministries operates clinics to help women find out if they have the HPV infection that leads to cervical cancer, and provides non-surgical treatment. They are raising $1.25 million to builc a surgical facility at the Leogane Family Health Center.
