As anyone at your Oak Park Volvo dealership can tell you, the new S60 has an excellent powertrain. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.5L inline-5 that's capable of 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive, though all-wheel-drive is an option.

Most vehicles would take a huge fuel-efficiency hit from all-wheel drive, but not this one: it's capable of 20 mpg city/29 mpg highway, compared to 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway with the front-wheel drive model. And since it's capable of going from zero to sixty miles per hour in about six and a half seconds, you're getting plenty of power, as well.

The 2012 Volvo S60 comes well equipped, too. Standard features include electronic climate control, torque vectoring, sport seats, and satellite radio, among other things. That said, you can add plenty of fantastic options, including a navigation system, a rearview camera, a blind-spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, and much more.

And drivers who have concerns about vehicle safety will be quite pleased with the 2013 S60. It has, after all, earned five stars out of five stars in government crash testing for frontal and side impacts. It also received top marks in tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
