this is most of the dan deacon ensemble's set from whartscape 2009. this was in the MICA lot on july 12. this set effectively served as the climax for the entire weekend, despite the fact that the second load of fun show still had yet to begin. before "silence like the wind," dan deacon elaborates on the decision to scale the festival down and encourage attendees to buy mega-passes, guaranteeing entry to all the shows. despite multiple technical glitches, missed cues, and a stage practically overflowing with equipment, the ensemble made it through with an endearing performance that can only be described as legendary.
the video begins with some words from dan deacon, and then cuts to "of the mountains," the third song of the set. I missed "get older" and "red f" due to poor vantage point and an enthusiastic crowd. "paddling ghost" is not included but I was almost positive I got that one - dunno what happened. also of note is the single new song of the set, "all night party." from the first chorus of "of the mountains" on, my vantage point is from on the stage.
