Winter is entering on the Pyrenees Mountains, dark forests and passes in which I have learnt to ride side-car on a two-wheel drive Dniepr - ukranian cousin of the Ural russian brand. Nowadays we own a french Dedome side-car powered by a BMW R1150 GS oilheads serie: much more comfortable and a bit faster than a Ural on highways but with only one wheel drive and... no reverse!

Dedome Classic side with an "old" BMW R 1150 GS oilheads serie - Main Caracteristics: 2,35 meter long, 1,89 meter wide, empty weight 393 kg, maximum load 300 kg - Fuel consumption: about 27.5 miles per gallon of 95 RON / 8.6 liters for 100 kilometers - Not so bad for an "old" air cooled flat twin engine in such severe conditions of ride (steep mountain roads) - Nota about the sidecar: Pierre-Jean Dedôme is a french designer of side-cars based near the old town of Langres (North East of France). At the opposite of the majority of contemporary products, he assumed the original choice of an "old school" - soft - behaviour and to integrate just the necessary - but perfectly - on modern motorbikes such like BMW flat engine powered ones or up-to-date italian Moto Guzzi european V-twin engine bikes, to make a sidecar: long stroke, progressive suspensions, Ohlins elements, no damped steering, strong tubular frames, conjugated brakes and a few rods to set up the whole. If some conservative elements of side-car community or fashion victims customers does not understand the characteristics selected by Pierre-Jean, his clients are lucky, erudite and/or enthousiast riders!
