On December 17, 2012, Poonam and Hersh became husband and wife. They chose to have two ceremonies to celebrate their union. The first was the Anand Karaj (Sikh ceremony), which was held at the Walnut Gurdwara, in respect the groom's side. The festivities began with a Hersh arriving on a white horse for his baraat with his friends and family dancing alongside with the dholl player, Jess Tooray, and mobile DJ Amit Kotecha. The second ceremony took place on December 22, 2012 at the Long Beach Hilton. This was the Hindu ceremony, in respect to the bride's family. Following the ceremony, they held a viddai, which is a farewell ceremony where bride's family symbolically give the bride away to the groom.
