On February 1, 2012, 74 people were killed and over 1,000 more injured in a stadium riot following a football match between rival clubs Al-Masry & Al-Ahly in Port Said, Egypt.

Al-Ahly fans, also known as 'Ultras', directly blamed the Ministry of Interior for orchestrating the violence.

Ensuing clashes in downtown Cairo between protesters & security forces lasted five days, leading to at least another dozen people killed in the aftermath.
