Women and men, young and old gather on a busy street in Amman, Jordan in June 2012 to demonstrate for equal civil rights. Protesters targeted changing Jordan's rape-marriage law in which a rapist can skirt punishment if he marries his victim. They also hope to change citizenship laws that prevent a Jordanian woman from passing on her citizenship to her children if she marries a non-Jordanian (Jordanian men can marry foreigners and pass on their citizenship). Lastly, they aim to bring awareness to the common "honor-killing" practice where families murder their daughter if she is found having sex with a man.
