Materials: Transparent scrims printed with seismic data and San Andreas Fault photography at Carrizo Plain, California. Site: At Soda Lake, an alkaline dry lake bed in Carrizo Plain. Task: build fragile tent-like sculptures, whose collapse is occasion for rebuilding.Soda Lake is an alkaline sink (no exit) playa (dry lake bed) near the San Andreas Fault. The black shiny plastic grates against the alkaline surfaces to produce drawing on the sculptural surfaces. The performance is shot with one hand on a still camera shooting stills inside the curves of the scrims, while attempting to tie the scrims together.
