In the final portion of the event, Bill Martin, Executive Director, Valentine History Center explained the process they were utilizing to help identify the landmarks that would be notated on the Visitors' Map that tourists receive when they visit Richmond. Mr. Martin was followed again by Matthew Freeman, President, TMI Consulting, Inc., who reviewed the results of responses received via written comments on index cards about where audience members take their visitors to Richmond, and what is missing from the current map that is being distributed at local tourist destinations?
This event was organized by the Valentine History Center and Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities with assistance from TMI, a Richmond-based inclusion consulting and facilitation group.
From Facebook event description:
"This will be the third iteration of the 'Community Conversations' series. The purpose of the series is to engage the community in a dialogue about the region’s past and how that past can positively shape our collective future. The more people that join in the conversation, the more productive our efforts become, and the easier it will be for everyone to see ourselves in the history of the region. "
