Elisabeth Piskernik is the director of Le Cube a Gallery and Artist in Residency Initiative in Rabat (Morocco). Since 2005, Le Cube - independent art room has been actively involved in the field of experimental contemporary art, building a platform for both Moroccan and foreign artists, as well as emerging creators and artists with an international reputation. It is a space where artists are encouraged to express themselves freely and to share their individual world views through temporary installations, video art, photographs, paintings, performances and other media.
As a way of offering more than basic exhibition space, the team of Le Cube - independent art room has also initiated projects that encourage artistic creation, for example a group of artists working as Collectif 212, the Night of the Galleries, "video night", a showcase of production and validation of video art, and most recently two projects, "summer's lab" that aims to encourage experimental artistic creation, and the initiative "new generation of art" that provides an opportunity for young talents to create and show at the Cube.
Another field of activity is to promote contemporary art to young people with gallery visits and art workshops that are taught by artists showing at Le Cube.
Le Cube - independent art room regularly collaborates with cultural institutions based in Rabat and with international art world organizations. It has set up exchange programs and an artistic residency that allows artists to work “in situ” to produce a one person show.
