This is a video of Tenzin Dolkar, USA Grassroots Director of Students for a Free Tibet, taken on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at a Forum held at Tibet House in New York City to raise awareness about the Tibetan and Han self-immolation protests in response to the PRC’s human rights atrocities.
Jing Zhang, President of Women's Rights in China and event organizers stand in Solidarity with Tibet and hope to increase international attention to the self-immolation incidents, as well as urge the PRC government to end its human rights abuses, to change its punitive policies, to defend the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and to show its respect and kindness to all the ethnic groups. During the forum, a moment of silence was held to pay tribute to them, and show condolences to their families and communities.
Speakers also included exiled Tiananmen Square Leader Wuer Kaixi; a statement by Chen Pokong, Chinese political critic and writer; and Ann Noonan, Executive Director the Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting (CUSIB). A statement by NYS Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz was presented by Peggy Chane, President of the Visual Artists Guild's New York Chapter .
