Renowned for its energetic speed, New York City is home of more than 8 million New Yorkers, besides a constant flow of visitors from everywhere else in the world. That being said, often times, New York can be quite lonely. Just as Jack’s Mannequin’s famously sung, “Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?” it is possible that one may often feel the same in such crowded city. With an idea of exploring the city with an emotional viewpoint, I create this short film in a slow motion, intending to catch moments of New Yorkers’ ordinary lives in contrast to New York’s incredible speed. There are people slowly walking, both alone and together. There are strangers making eye-contact, which is rare. There are children laughing. There are musicians playing passionately. I realize those are the very reasons that make me fall in love with this city. After all, despite being alone, I know I am not lonely here.
