A short trailer to promote the Vampire 5k, an undead-themed fun-run where teams of participants can sign up as humans, called "citizens", or vampires and engage in friendly competition.

The two different "species" begin the race at separate locations on the course, and eventually the two routes converge, at which point, runners can attempt to steal flags from their opponents.

The event is held April, 26, 2013 in Denver, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Dallas.

All of the footage was shot during the late afternoon, near Chatfield Botanical Gardens in Colorado.
The shots were then color-corrected to achieve a day-for-night look, with extensive camera-tracking and masking to replace the daylight skies with stars and fog.

To achieve the staccato, frenetic look I was after, I shot with a shutter speed of 1/1000 at 24fps, which produces very crisp, almost strobe-like movement, with virtually no motion blur.

The "radio" voices, and most of the "dialog" comes courtesy of myself, my sister, and a few friends, either recorded over the phone, or through a walkie-talkie designed for gas-masks that I bought for six dollars on eBay.

Grading, Effects, and Motion-Graphics completed in After Effects CS6.
