This short documentary tells the story of the Page to Stage Series at Princeton Public Library, an arts and humanities initiative that produces staged readings of plays adapted from or inspired by literature.
Page to Stage was developed by librarian Janie Hermann and theatre artist Brandon Monokian in the spring of 2011 as a means to promote reading in a fun and physical way. Since its inception, the library has staged eight productions with plans in the works for the series to continue in 2013. The mini doc, filmed and edited by Sharyn Alice Murray, explores the series’ creative process and features multiple performance clips.
Plays featured include Tattoo Girl by Naomi Iizuka, Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, The Arabian Nights by Mary Zimmerman, Einstein’s Dreams by Kipp Errante Cheng, Jookalorum! by Joellen Bland, Jack & The Beanstalk by Bill Springer and Freak by Naomi Iizuka and Ryan Pavelchik. The web feature also showcases original music by Kaitlin Overton, Allison Andresini and Ryan Yannalfo.
