Take a trip into the wondrous adventures of a beer entrepreneur.
What posses someone to start a tiny new brewery while all existing breweries are struggling to survive in a highly competitive and declining beer market? A market dominated by some of the world’s biggest multinationals, where millions of euro’s are spent in marketing, the route to market is locked, and the market is already flooded with a variety of beer offerings….
When big fish are eating the smaller fish, why jump into the pool? Armed with no more than an old beer recipe, coasters, glasses, crates, a van and a dream, the Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie willingly made this jump. Is it the beer talking? Or the unstoppable power of optimism?
Discover the adventure and joy of entrepreneurship: the ups and downs, the challenges and small victories. When a dream takes you from corporate meeting rooms, international conference calls and strategic plans, to driving a delivery van with beer, to visiting and winning bar per bar, and building a company from the ground up.
Why entrepreneurship and starting your dream is the best paid job you can ever have!
Given the steps taken, a small astronomical amount of optimism is one of the key ingredients.
Starting his career at J&J in 1997, Johan quickly moved to the beer business in 1999, where he worked at different breweries ranging from Hoegaarden (ABInbev) and Dommelsch (ABInbev), to managing the portfolio of brands of the Duvel Moortgat Group internationally from 2005 to 2011 as International Marketing Director. In this role he earned the title of ‘Marketer of the year 2010’.
When most people would decide to cash in, he checked out… and decides to follow a dream. Johan leaves the comfort of his job to start as an entrepreneur and become the founder of the Antwerp Brewing Company /Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie.
