Kinder Morgan announced today that they are changing what they plan to submit to the national energy board sometime in late 2013. They now want to build a new 590,000 barrel a day pipeline next to the existing 300,000 barrel a day pipeline they purchased in 2005. Already since they bought the pipeline we have seen an increase from 20 tankers a year to 80. Their plan up until today was to build a new 450,000 barrel a day pipeline which would increase tanker traffic up to over 300 tankers a year. This new proposal would add an additional 100 tankers on top of that resulting in over 400 tankers a year carrying dangerous tar sands oil through BC's sensitive coast line.
