Back in September of 2012, Greenhat was asked to help with Cyrus One's open house event. It was going to be the biggest event the company has thrown since they were purchased by Cincinnati Bell in 2010. Their massive 650,000 sq-ft. warehouse in Carrollton, TX was just the place to hold such an event. With enough space to fit (4) football fields and/or (3) 747 jet liners, we knew the production needed to match the size and scale of the venue.
The "Cirque" theme was a perfect vehicle for over the top extravagance. The 37' ceilings played host to a variety of harness performers and silk aerialists. One of the challenges early on, was how to incorporate such a theme with CyrusOne's clean and polished "High Tech" look. Our solution was written on the wall... literally... the entire time. We would use the massive white wall as a projection surface to create the high tech look with custom content to fit the theme. For the high tech part we used (3) Barco FLM-HD 20 20,000 Lumens, 1080p HD DLP Projectors driven by (1) Arkaos Media Master Media server controlled with Livid Intrument's OHM64 Midi Controler.
The content was a bit tricky not only becasue we had to bridge the gap, creatively between the two themes, but it (the media) had to be designed and created without ever rehearsing with the performer. So in order to bridge that gap, our Creative Director Andrew King, came up with a briliant concept. Using the "Cirque" elements of the performers and the "Tech" elements from the actual venue itself, we were able to use more of a "Steam Punk" style facade for the opening sequence. Then open it up to the "high tech" eye candy that the harness performer could use for her performance.
