My second project at Blur--this was definitely the deep end! CG Supervisor Jerome Denjean led the charge to Mental Ray on this project, breaking away from Brazil which was our standard at the time. I think the results speak for themselves as Mental Ray's image based lighting, global illumination, fast skin, and arch&design shader provided a huge boost to our image quality.
I was responsible for lighting and compositing many of the shots in the final sequence where our heroes meet their match: a giant, blue Thunderchicken. I also acted in somewhat of a TD capacity toward the later stages of the project, leveraging my experience with lighting and shading in V-Ray as well as Maxscript to help the studio pipeline transition to Mental Ray.
