Clear winter days are rare in Seattle; we generally suffer through the winter in a cloud of gray. A couple times a year we get a cold snap with clear skies, which bring out the sun, a welcome sight. This weekend we had one of those cold snaps and I found myself up early in the morning on a particularly cold day. What I found was eerie.
There was no one out. At all. Even the homeless who are up in the parks seemed to have retreated to the warm of the shelters. I grabbed my camera and headed out, trying to document the abandoned city, and what I produced was this weekend’s short, “Abandoned Seattle”.
A word about cameras: I used the C100 and a monopod here…wanted to keep it light so I could move quickly and get the shots before the city thawed out. It handled really well, considering the temp was below freezing the whole time. My fingers, on the other hand, were not so resilient.
