An abstract documentary narrative exploring the effect of the financial crisis in Ireland. Church was replaced by shopping on a Sunday but with the fall of the Celtic Tiger, what now for the Irish people? What will fill the void? Famed for their strong community and family bonds I look to this fine nation for a solution, for if the Irish cannot find their societal heartbeat as a way out, then there is no hope for any of us.
Inspired by the poetic styles of Vertov, Humphrey Jennings and Terrence Davies and the literature of George Orwell, "Animal Farm" in particular, I have attempted to create a narrative arc that creates an emotional response to the subtext.
This is a project for Central Saint Martins. Contributers include Dave Lorden, a notable Irish poet and Luke Flanagan, an Irish member of Parliament. Music is by Miceal O Cronin who I worked with to compose bespoke pieces for the film.
