Are you haunted by childhood or youthful memories that have shaped your life in ways you seem unable to escape. Imagine how a parent's early emotional trauma might influence your life. How about the father is waiting his child to clear the deep seated anger and resentment and receives his son back with open arms of compassion?
Today, take a moment to examine your conscience. When was the last time you say "I love you" to your parents? Have you sinned against God? Have you offended your neighbor? If so, honoring the parents involves high esteem, reverence and support. It means that you are there for them and you care for them with your service, support, money, and visits. This responsible action leads to the first commandment, high reverence to God (You shall have no other gods before me.) This is what a loving God is all about.
