This is a short film that documents the first stage of an ambitious experiment in the Swiss Alps, on the Calanda mountain near Chur, in the canton of Graubünden.
Ecologists from the ETH Zurich are investigating the effects of competition between alpine plant species under warmer climate conditions. They are monitoring plant communities in situ by moving turf samples from higher elevations to lower filed sites to simulate the projected change in climate over the next few decades.
