I've started work on a new series of paintings based off of my encounters with the homeless men and women living in and around Banker's Hill in San Diego. Gathering and sorting all types of materials using grocery buggies, they lug the weight up and down the hills of downtown and, finally, over to the recycling center to have it all weighed. I've been more than impressed by their work ethic, good nature conversation and a perseverance to get off of the streets. This video was shot by an excellent film crew based out of St. Louis, "GEBBSTV," and they caught me at the inception of this idea as I tackled my first painting of James and Jarrod. Enjoy!
