Hello! I’m Ella Moriarty and I am a recent high school graduate. I was given the wonderful opportunity to attend Wine Country Pride at Remy Wines this year, and it was a BLAST.
Even though it was well over 100 degrees, I had the best time. I don’t think I’d be the only one to say that I physically felt the love in the air. So many rainbows and smiles. I felt welcomed, accepted, and empowered, instantly.
Remy was an incredible host: Witty, bold, and passionate. The event was well paced, including a brief segment on the origin of pride, a parade featuring supportive local businesses, and two incredible Drag Shows. The Drag Shows, performed by six local Drag Queens, were unforgettable. Every performer was unique and captivating. I loved every minute. And when I got hungry there was a delicious selection of food at FOOD TRUCK NAME. On top of that, there was a lovely photo area provided by Pollinate Flowers that was so beautiful, I had to get a few photos by it. I wasn’t able to have any wine, but my parents were, and they were thrilled by the selection provided by Remy Wines and other local wineries.
I was very excited that the event was shaped so that it was accessible by everyone. Not only was there a well directed live stream, but there were two incredible ASL interpreters who interpreted the whole event, even through the intense heat. The older I get, the more aware I become of the lack of equity in this world. I am incredibly proud and excited to have been an attendee of an event that invested in so many structural elements in order to achieve equity.
I had a wonderful time at Wine Country Pride. I’m really looking forward to going again next year!
