Tonight Evangelist Joe Kaiser preached a message from Nehemiah chapter 1 verses 1 through 6 on “Do you have vision?” It is important for us to have vision in life; unfortunately many have lost their vision.
Nehemiah was a cup-bearer, a highly-regarded position in which he was required to test drinks before they went before the king. Nehemiah had come to a point in life where he needed to make a choice. As such, he did four things:
1.) He saw that there was a need. There is a need outside the church – to reach our friends, our neighbors, and our families. We need to win souls. “The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise.” (Pro 11:30) As we grow in the Lord, we gain wisdom. We need to reach the forsaken.
2.) He felt the burden. We need to cast our burdens to Jesus Christ, so we can help others with their burdens. Matthew 11:28 - 30 states: “Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.” Sometimes we need spiritual rest. Sometimes we carry burdens we didn’t even know we had. “And of some have compassion, making a difference.” (Jude 1:22) We have concern and compassion for others when we feel the burden and are committed.
3.) He caught the vision. We need to go further than we think we can go. There will always be opposition to your vision. “Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.” (Pro 29:18) How do you have vision? You should pray about everything and believe that God will always answer: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matt 21:22)
4.) He did the work. As long as you give the glory to God, He will do some great things in your life. God wants us to give our time: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph 5:16) He wants us to give our talents; ask God what your talents are. God wants us to give our treasures; He wants us to be a cheerful giver.
Have you seen the need to reach others? Have you felt the burden and caught the vision? And have you identified the work to do to glorify God. Do you have vision?
