'Anticipating The Future' is Polish artist Mariusz Tarkawian's first solo exhibition in the UK. Born in Lublin, Tarkawian now lives and works in Warsaw. This show will feature a selection from 'Anticipation of Art', his ongoing series of over 600 drawings that anticipate what kind of work well known contemporary artists may be making in the future. Acting like an encyclopaedia of the future, the exhibition, sited in the gallery of an art school, will also unofficially act as a reference point for students to follow up on artists with whose work they are not familiar. In a creative environment, which is nurturing future practitioners, the work also showcases the way one artist has situated himself within a larger art world. In his 600 drawings Tarkawian has anticipated future works of artists ranging from Bill Viola, Vanessa Beecroft and Damien Hirst to Jake & Dinos Chapman and Marina Abramovic. gsa.ac.uk/life/gsa-events/events/mariusz-tarkawian-anticipating-the-future.
