Founder of the MA in Individualized Studies Program, Dr. Robert "Bob" Belenky, addresses what drew him to Vermont and Goddard. He was the dean of the graduate program for two years and worked to delevop a masters program. He was drawn to Vermont because he wanted to develop a program in the wilderness where children and families who had problems could come to talk and listen. He said that what makes Goddard different is the fact that it puts the responsibility for learning on the shoulders of the student. He sees Goddard as a vehicle for a better society with social, political and moral goals.
