Watch Part 2/2: Exploring The Nile
I spent my first Winter Break of college in Kayunga, Uganda, working at a rural hospital. During my stay, I took two mini holidays, the first in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and the second in Jinja, Uganda. This is the first of two videos of my trip to Africa.
I left the United States on Christmas day and arrived in Kigali, Rwanda to pick a friend up. The two of us then flew to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and stayed the night at a YMCA Hostel to catch the ferry to Stonetown, Zanzibar the following morning, where we spent all day shopping for spices and eating local food. From there, we made our way up North to Kendwa, where we lived off of the land and slept on the beach. We stayed in Kendwa for five days, tanning, partying, drinking coconuts, eating pineapple, swimming, and exploring. Further North was a posh Italian hotel that we snuck into for both their Full Moon and New Year's Party. That's where we met Leo and Javid, two Spaniards living in Dar es Salaam that frequent Zanzibar every month to get away from the responsibilities of life (featured midway through the video). Leo was the DJ at both parties, and after his gigs, invited us to another one in the East at a beach called Paje. So the four of us vagabonded Zanzibar together, exploring beaches during low tide, swimming to nearby islands, taking siestas, dodging sea urchins and jellyfish, and much much more.
