I'm super excited to be heading off to L.A. tomorrow to be presenting on color at IN[FOCUS]. So, frantically I have been trying to organize real life examples to show how powerful color correction can be. Also today, we met with the very talented artist, Pat Dollman (aka Downpat, Rawthentic Records - find him on facebook) who we will be shooting a music video for later this year (to be released mid April 2013). A few months ago we did a test shoot for the clip and I decided to have look at what I could do with it in post. Once again, the power of RAW came through, although, I also recorded this to the Samurai which captured plenty of info for me to play with at 10-bit 4:2:2.
Mastering your craft as a cinematographer is one thing, but having the freedom to continue in post is very rewarding and I believe, helps you become a better shooter.
I'll be writing more about this at my blog: mattscottvisuals.com when I return :)
