Conversations - still - silent…is a collaboration between the three artists. We had some joyful and creative virtual conversations. We decided that our goal in performance would be to continue the conversation by way of our movement and sound expressions.
The music is a series of compositions in mode Navā based on the radif of Persian classical music. Radif is the central repertoire of Persian music, a collection of about 300 pieces (called gusheh) in over 60 modes compiled in 12 dastgāhs. Every dastgāh is a collection of a number of modes arranged in order to create a music program (or suite). A musician is expected to memorize all the pieces and improvise upon them creating new pieces while maintaining the characteristic of every piece so the informed audience could recognize them.
