The Petit Family Foundation began after the senseless and brutal murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit (48), Hayley Elizabeth Petit (17) and Michaela Rose Petit (11) during a home invasion in the early morning hours of July 23, 2007. Dr. William A. Petit, Jr. was beaten with a baseball bat but survived.
The Petit Family Foundation honors the memories of these three beautiful women by continuing the kindness, idealism and activism that defined their lives. The Foundation's funds are given to help foster the education of young people, especially women in the sciences, to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses, and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence.
All proceeds from the GE 5K Road Race, "Be the Change," benefit the Petit Family Foundation. Many of the photos in this video are from the road race held on July 19, 2009 in Plainville, CT.
