On February 23rd 2013 Centennial Park will once again echo to the sound of clattering high heels, as Sydney Front Runners host their 13th annual Little Black Dress Run. The LBD Run raises urgently needed funds for Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Camp Goodtime, which supports kids living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
Camp Goodtime brings together over 80 kids with HIV - and their parents - from all over Australia. It’s been running since 1990, and provides invaluable emotional and medical support for the children and their families. For the kids, its several worry free days filled with fun and surrounded by friends. And for many of the parents, it’s the only opportunity they have to meet others dealing with similar issues around HIV.
The camp is run by The Paediatric HIV Service at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, and it relies entirely on voluntary donations and sponsorship. Last year, the LBD run raised nearly $40,000 – almost half Camp Goodtime’s running costs. In 2013, we’re aiming a lot higher, and hope to support the camp by raising a massive $100,000.
