A patient at The Children's Center wish came true today when Thunder Star Kevin Durant surprised him for his birthday. 14-year-old Ramarcus Ervin has been a patient at The Children's Center since he was two months old. Ervin requires 24-hour care due to his medical needs that require him to be on a ventilator and limited motor function. Ervin cognitively is able to understand and communicate through technology provided by his special education teachers at The Children's Center. Durant learned about Ramarcus' birthday wish through a tweet sent Monday morning by The Children's Center. He quickly responded saying that he wanted to meet Ervin.
"I wanted to meet Ramarcus as soon as possible," Durant said. "I am very blessed I got this opportunity. He's a great kid. To hear people say he's a big fan means a lot to me."
Durant gave Ervin a pair of autographed KD shoes, a signed Thunder jersey, a signed USA Olympics jersey, as well as a signed copy of his movie, Thunderstruck. After his visit with Ervin, Durant toured the hospital meeting several of the patients, as well as employees.
