In January 2013 I was privileged to host UK cellist, Jo Quail, in my home town of Dunsborough in the South West of Western Australia. Jo was captivating as she created a layer of sound on "Nevis" her amazing electric cello. As you may know, Jo's music has been a big part of my video landscape creations for a number of years now and to finally see her perform these pieces live was truly inspirational.
In front of an intimate and attentive audience, Jo displayed amazing musicianship to create sounds that would be looped and added to each composition creating at times a wall of sound so powerful it was hard to believe it was all from one instrument and one musician. Tu Florentine is just one of a number of pieces of music played on the night which were all equally captivating.
The footage was captured on my C300 and 5D mk3 with additional footage from friend Rory Malcolm on a 5Dmk2. All the audio was captured through the C300 with a Rode NTG-1 shotgun mic. The audio has not been altered in post. It is straight from the camera.
