In 2011, a pilot was conducted whereby 22 individuals were selected and trained by an Art Therapist, Shazia Mohamed. After undergoing the training, the Art as Therapy Practitioners (ATPs) were placed in three special education institutes across Karachi where they worked with a group of children with disabilities over the period of 6 months.
Artpreneurs for Change (AfC) is a project that uses Art as a therapeutic medium to engage children with disabilities socially as well as getting them to express themselves.
This is a short interview of one of the ATPs from the pilot. She is talking about what Art as Therapy means to her and elaborates with an experience from her 6 months with her group.
