This second episode of DCo Griot is devoted to Digi-Gri, one of three comics created for Designing in Color's presentation at Harvard's 2019 Black in Design. Conceptualized, sketched, and painted on an iPad, our own @Rujabes cited the afrofuturist sprit of DCo as a key inspiration. Elements of Blade Runner 2049, Ghost in the Shell, and the photos of Yannis Davy Guibinga all receive some visual references as well.
Digi-Gri tells the tale of a nameless protagonist walking through a dystopian cityscape, on the way to her sacred space. At Digi-Gri, she hopes to hear her favorite digital storyteller, Langston-01, and be transported to the virtual narrative landscape its words create. Here, she finds peace and solace from life's struggles. Her sacred space is virtual, shapeable, vast and infinite.
