Desh Malhar is the last of three pieces offered by Philip Porter and Robi Belgrade for the Pemako Health Initiative's 1st Benefit Concert.
Philip Porter is a bay area native who began his studies on sitar at age 20 with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in San Rafael. Philip now lives and works at Pema Osel Ling in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Robi Belgrade is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. He is trained in both Western and Eastern classical music as well as jazz. His teachers include Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, John Handy, Zakir Hussain, Alla Rakha, Swapan Chaudhury Vince Delgado and Tom Pierson. Robi currently reside in the SF Bay Ara performing a wide variety of music and teaching music to children of all ages.
