Over the holidays our team worked on the second installment of the “Little Buddy” videos for Sling Media's Sling Box. Sling Box allows customers to watch their televisions on any device all over the world; it is your Little Buddy that follows you everywhere. 3D lead and VFX Supervisor Brandon Blizard, traveled out to sunny Las Vegas to help coordinate and oversee the visual effects on the two day shoot.
Shot on twelve locations throughout Las Vegas, Little Buddy featured the High Roller suite of the Paris Hotel (complete with swan shaped faucets in one of it's six bathrooms), the famous landmark Las Vegas sign, several casinos and a boat (well ... a gondola). With so many subtle visual effects sprinkled throughout the video we knew Little Buddy was going to pose a challenge for the team while in production and in post. Many of the shots were filmed on the open streets and were tough to regulate. We leveraged our past experience in production to develop a few smart tricks for paint and roto, to seamlessly integrate the motion graphics and design into the piece. In the end we successfully crafted the magical story of Little Buddy enjoying his adventure in fabulous Las Vegas.
