Portland's Stephen Selwood is one of five local people chosen to participate in the United Way Glenelg project 'Local Eyes'. For this project, participants were asked to document a typical day in their life through photography. Stephen was visiting his grandfather's home in Broadford when he documented his day. His day included a trip to Melbourne on the train and a walk with a friend taking photographs. Stephen has Autism, Epilepsy, Depression and Asperger Syndrome.
The aim of the project is to get a glimpse of our community through quite different lenses, i.e. the unique perspectives of individuals within United Way’s community.
Stephen's photographs and photo-story will be on exhibition in Portland in March 2013.
Stephen met up with ABC Open (Colleen Hughson) to reflect on his photographs and to record a story about a 'typical' day for him. He then edited his story with assistance from Colleen. This story is now part of ABC Open's 'Day in a Life' project- an online gallery of stories from Regional Australia.
