An experimental video trying to capture the phenomena of rain and snow within an architectural model.
The site model used is a 1:2000 scale of my chosen thesis site, Church Island in Lough Garadice, Co. Leitrim. The model was designed to to show the interaction between the precipitation falling from the sky and the water on the lake below. This was achieved by coating the land sections with wax, to repel the water, and placing these on a mirrored surface, to reflect the sky. The piece was sealed so that a thin layer of water could sit in the base and thus display the ripples from the droplets.
Footage of the model was then spliced with documentary footage of actual rain and snow. The purpose of this was to attempt to evoke the atmosphere of the site during these conditions.
