Maya Hajjar fought her cancer for the last minute after failing to respond to traditional chemotherapy. She pursued alternative treatments which, so far, have yielded promising results in a rather short period of time but she lost her fight unfortunately and we lost a great soul ...
To those who don’t know her, Maya has raised Lebanon’s flag on numerous occasions:
- Winning the National Tennis Women’s Single the first time at the tender age of 13 and then straight on for almost 20 years
- Competing in tournaments worldwide and winning the Pan - Arab in Jordan in 1988
- Competing at the Ski Universiades in Osaka, Japan, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria
- And devoting her life to tennis and sports.
Later on created the Maya Hajjar Tennis Academy – mhajjartennis.com – where she has dedicated time and energy to promoting tennis to young children in Lebanon, using unique and fun teaching methods that nurture the love of sports for life.
Maya passed away on the 23rd March 2008
